It's All About Digestion

According to Ayurveda, the root of most disease and imbalance is faulty digestion. Maintaining a healthy digestive fire (agni) and the proper digestion of food are essential as both dramatically impact the way food and toxins get processed by the body. If digestion malfunctions, the body cannot assimilate the full benefits of food/nutrients nor eliminate food waste properly. When this happens toxins build up (ama), immunity is compromised, and—if not dealt with—the stability of the body's systems can be thrown off, which leads to imbalance and illness.

Everything we take into our body and mind greatly influences the quality of our life and wellbeing. So it is not only proper intake of food and drink according to our unique makeup that impacts our digestion but what we consume with all of our senses. Thus, Ayurveda not only looks to specific food choices but other lifestyle recommendations that will maximize balance and wellness.

Ayurveda does not offer a one-size-fits-all approach to food and lifestyle recommendations. In fact, it holds that there is no specific diet or lifestyle approach that will work for everyone equally. Instead, it maintains that when we eat and live according to our unique constitution or the current imbalance we are seeking to address, our body and mind will naturally shift back to a balanced state.
